Unlike traditional ink painting, which uses only black ink, this painting is vivid and light, with plenty of color. The theme of her paintings is not limited to figurative representation. By painting, she dives into the unconscious, and images emerge through the filter of her mind, creating a world that is neither concrete nor abstract. From a distance, it is a single work of art. When you get closer, it is an encounter with the infinitely expanding microscopic landscape. The meaning behind the title “beyond. It is the pursuit of artistry as a contemporary ink painting that is neither Western nor Eastern, but rather transcends our contemporary existence. Rather than giving form to an image in one's mind, the artist creates an unexpected world in a chance encounter between ink and water, with a sense of humor and the unexpectedness of mental images. The artist's work evokes the classical tonalities of the East, while at the same time possessing an extremely modern sensibility. The brush strokes capture nature and are filled with a great energy that seems to draw the universe into the world of paper. The work is derived from Mother Nature, and is imbued with the power of life and the sounds of the natural world. The works are the crystallization of the artist's mind, and they stimulate the imagination of the viewer, giving him or her the pleasure of creating the work once again. ■Author ProfileHiroko OnogiBorn in Tokushima City, Onogi began studying watercolor painting at the age of three with Hiroshi Sano, and later studied oil painting under Shinsei Saito, a Buddhist monk at Shinnyo-do temple in Kyoto.
