  • Vintage Gravy Boat / Saucière with Attached Underplate, Cumberland Pattern by Sango, Large and Small Panels in Rust and Gold Colors on White Porcelain, Servingware, Condiment Server, Tableware, Maximalist, Mediterranean Style, (Discontinued)
  • Brand: Sango
  • Made in Japan
  • Vintage:  late 1960's - 1976
  • Details:  This is an absolutely gorgeous Saucière with attached underplate!! The pattern is called Cumberland, by Sango.  It has large and small panels, in a rust/terracotta red and gold colors, all along the border with florals and other patterns.  The smaller panels have hand painted moriage (raised) "dots".  It's a very elegant pattern, reminds us of a romantic vacation in the Mediterranean, a Moroccan look. The bowl is stamped:  "Sango China, Japan, Cumberland 3732".  We know that Sango moved manufacturing to Indonesia in 1977, so this is pre-1977 and based on the logo, we believe it dates from 1960's to 1976.  If you are trying to collect this pattern, or are looking for a beautiful Saucière (this style is called a saucière which typically has no handle and two pour spouts, but everyone calls them gravy boats), for your table or buffet, we hope this is a happy find.  We also carry other serving pieces in this pattern, please search our site to see all.

We didn't find much information on Sango.  Based on the information available, they were in business in Japan from the 1950s until 1977.  In 1977 they moved manufacturing to Indonesia. They are still in business.
